YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED – FAQ

I’m scared / I’m scared of heights!!!
It is perfectly acceptable to be scared and perfectly normal to be scared of heights.  Do not let these minor points stop you from experiencing Skydiving, Freefall, and the thrill of a life time…

How do I go about making my first jump?
Most people start with a tandem jump. It gives you all the excitement of skydiving attached to a highly-experienced and certified Tandem Master.  After a short briefing you will be provided with a jump suit and goggles, fitted with a harness and attached to your highly-experienced and certified Tandem Master.
The Tandem Master takes care of all the details, allowing you to concentrate on enjoying your breathtaking introduction to Skydiving and your Freefall experience.
If you want to jump solo right from the beginning, you can enrol on the Internationally Recognised Accelerated Freefall (AFF) Skydiving Training Program.

What happens during my first jump?
After your briefing and kitting up, an Atlas Angel Aircraft (purpose built and dedicated to skydiving) will take you to an altitude of between 10 000 and 12 000ft - a scenic flight lasting around 14 minutes.
Your Tandem Master controls the exit from the aircraft, the freefall – which lasts 30 – 45 seconds, the parachute opening and canopy flight, and your safe and graceful landing back on the drop zone.
So that you can relive the experience over and over, an airborne videographer films the entire experience and edits a DVD together for you after the jump.

How long does the parachute descent last?
The Tandem Master will activate the parachute at 5 000ft, the Tandem Master controls the parachute flight and controls the landing.  The entire parachute flight lasts around 6 minutes.

Do I need special training before a Tandem Skydive?
On arrival at the Drop Zone you will be given a short briefing lasting a few minutes. This is to explain the equipment, procedures, aircraft exit and freefall, as well as the landing procedure. Then you're ready to put on your gear and take to the air.

Do I need to be fit?
General fitness is all that is required for skydiving. You will be required to sign a declaration of fitness and an indemnity form. If you have any medical conditions, you should consult your doctor first.
